a voice for all

California launched a statewide effort to ensure an accurate and complete count of Californians in the 2020 Census. The California Complete Count – Census 2020 Office coordinated the State’s outreach and communication strategy, which focused on the hardest-to-count residents. Working through local governments, Tribal Governments, community-based organizations and media, the state funded work that complemented work being done nationally by the U.S. Census Bureau.

protecting our redwoods

Since 1918, Save the Redwoods League has protected and restored California redwood forests and connected people with their peace and beauty so these wonders of the natural world flourish. They purchase redwood forests and the surrounding lands needed to nurture them; regenerate logged forests so they become spectacular havens for future generations; study how to best protect and restore these global treasures; and introduce people to these magical places.

redefining electricity

Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is redefining the local electricity market, providing residents and businesses with new clean energy choices—renewable and 100% carbon-free electricity at competitive rates. Twelve communities in Santa Clara County formed SVCE, creating a community-owned agency. For these communities, SVCE is now your official electricity provider.

safe clean water

The Safe Clean Water program would add cooling green space to the urban landscapes that make up the core of L.A. County, protecting residents from heat and the health effects of contaminated stormwater runoff. If approved by 66.7 percent of voters in the November 2018 election, Measure W would be funded by a parcel tax of 2.5 cents per square foot of impermeable areas (like concrete) within the County. This would raise approximately $300 million annually. The median L.A. County single-family residence would pay about $83. Certain properties, such as public schools, would be exempt from paying the parcel tax.

recycling programs

The Recycling and Waste Reduction Commission of Santa Clara County provides leadership for countywide planning and works to assure the success of countywide cooperative programs to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials that otherwise would be disposed of in landfills.

The Commission's mission is to conserve, protect and preserve the environmental resources of our community through advocacy, education and outreach programs; to reuse, reduce, recycle and intelligently dispose of waste materials; and to promote composting, pollution and waste prevention and sustainable living practices for all the people in Santa Clara County.
